The short answer

Read your enrollment confirmation. If anything is unclear, contact the plan before assuming coverage has started.

Confirm the start date

Read your enrollment confirmation. If anything is unclear, contact the plan before assuming coverage has started.

Check your cards and care

Keep the right cards ready. Confirm your doctors, pharmacy and prescriptions with your new coverage.

Keep useful documents

Save your coverage guide and member-service number. Review notices and bills for errors.

Ask for help early

For a denied service or drug, ask about the reason and appeal steps. Follow the deadline on your notice.

A question worth asking

What should I do if a service or drug is denied?

Contact the plan or Medicare, as appropriate, and ask for the written coverage decision and appeal instructions. Your provider may help supply supporting information. Follow the deadline and urgent-review instructions on the notice. You can also ask SHIP for independent assistance; a Finwell conversation does not replace an appeal filing.

Your next-step checklist

Use this for your own notes. Checkmarks are not sent to Finwell or saved when you leave.
